At the forefront of Brazen Bloom, Emily Flourentzou serves as an accomplished Child and Adolescent Counsellor, wholeheartedly dedicated to nurturing the inherent potential within every young individual. As a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), she demonstrates a strong commitment to ethical and professional excellence in her practice. With a master's degree in counselling from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and additional training in Clinical Play Therapy Studies, Emily brings both a child-centred and strength-based approach to guiding children and their families through challenging experiences.
Emily combines academic expertise with over 8 years of hands-on experience. She adopts therapeutic strategies derived from evidence-based therapeutic models such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy and child-centred play therapy.
Throughout her career, Emily has observed transformative changes in the lives of the young people she works with. These positive shifts extend beyond the efficacy of therapeutic strategies; they are also a result of the dedication she invests in cultivating and nurturing the therapeutic relationship with each young person. Recognising the significance of trust and connection, Emily prioritises creating a safe and supportive space where individuals feel empowered to explore their emotions and confront life's challenges with resilience.
With a history of therapeutically working with children in the child-protection system, Emily also approaches her counselling work with a trauma-informed lens. Additionally, her experience working with neurodivergent children and applying an affirming approach deepens her understanding of individual differences. Her profound knowledge and expertise enhances her ability to navigate sensitive issues, ensuring that her counselling work is tailored to meet the unique needs of each child, fostering healing and growth.
